Although female directors like S.J. Clarkson, Rosemary Rodriguez, and Uta Briesewitz had handled some of the episodes in the first season of "Jessica Jones", nine of the thirteen episodes ultimately credited men as directors. Rosenberg was adamant about an all-female directors for "Jessica Jones" season 2.

Marvel and Rosenberg originally planed their search for female directing talent in an effort to increase the number of female directors on the show’s second season and because such talents are in high demand as of late; male directors would be considered further along in the pre-production process.

But when the idea was floated that "Jessica Jones" will have feature an all-female directing team, Rosenberg and her producers went on to do it, SlashFilm reported.

In other news, Rosenberg revealed new details regarding Luke Cage's (Mike Colter) possible return in "Jessica Jones" season 2 as she told The Hollywood Reporter that she and "Luke Cage" series showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker did not have time to discuss what is next between Luke Cage and Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) in the show.

However, Rosenberg noted that one of the writers in the "Luke Cage" Netflix series and hopefully she would intend to put Luke back in season 2. Rosenberg added that she will miss working with Mike Colter and the special chemistry he had with Krysten Ritter during the first season of "Jessica Jones".

"Luke Cage" is currently available on Netflix, which featured Colter's character fighting crime to make Harlem safe. Both Jessica Jones and Luke Cage met in the first season of "Jessica Jones" as friends, allies and eventually lovers. They will also join other Marvel Netflix characters Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and Danny Rand/Iron Fist (Finn Jones) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of "The Defenders".

It is rumored that "Jessica Jones" season 2 will not feature one but three main villains in the show.

There is no announcement of the release date for "Jessica Jones" season 2.
