Since Samsung Electronics is determined to hurdle the crisis with Samsung Galaxy Note 7, the electronics company is planning to come back strong with its Samsung Galaxy 8 packed with an edge-to-edge display. It is said that the upcoming phone will have 90 percent screen-to-body ratio, which is 10 percent more than the S7, but could even have as much as 99 percent.

A Principal Engineer at one of Samsung's display manufacturing unit, Park Won-Sang, confirmed that next year, the Korean tech-giant will be releasing a phone that will take up 90 percent of its front face. The statement was released during the iMID 2016 display exhibition held at Seoul, Korea last week, The Investor reported.

"Samsung Display would roll out a full-screen display whose display area ratio (a scale that measures space taken up by a display on the front part of a handset) reaches more than 90 percent next year."

In his presentation, Wong-San showed a concept image of a Galaxy S7 Edge with an edge-to-edge display which lacks a physical home button. The expert added in this case, all sensors will now be placed under the screen, the report added.

This is one of the latest updates for the S8's specifications since it was surrounded with rumors of sporting a curved display in the past. However, the presence of the latter in Samsung's upcoming flagship is still unconfirmed as of this moment.

Meanwhile, aside from the edge-to-edge display, Samsung Galaxy S8 is reported to adapt once again, the use of the organic light-emitting diode, or OLED, that it first used in the S7.

The use of OLED and edge-to-edge display has also been the trend among other smartphone manufacturers. Just recently, Xiamo unveiled a new smartphone called Mi Mix, an edgeless device which features a 6.4-inch bezel-free body made of ceramic.

The Chinese device has been reported to have a 91.30 percent screen-to-body ratio, Pocketlint reported. The Mi Mix is packed with a 2.35 GHz Snapdragon 821 processor with up to 6 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage.
