Ubisoft has recently unveiled "Steep" which is their take on snowy extreme sports that include skiing and snowboarding with a little bit more realism compared to older games.

Snowboarding games have already existed for several years now but they all look similar in terms of graphics and mechanics. Ubisoft's "Steep" aims to take that realism to the next level coupled with new game mechanics that will be refreshing even to those who have played all the other snowboard games.

Surprisingly, "Steep" is expected to be released on time and without delay. That does not seem to bode well for players who are familiar with Ubisoft's releases although it should not be judged yet.

"Steep" from Ubisoft will be released on December 2, 2016 for gamers across the globe, Pocket-Lint has learned. It will be available for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Players can take advantage of an open beta until November 14.

Ubisoft has featured for snow sports in "Steep": paragliding, snowboarding, skiing and wingsuiting. All of which are expected to be more entertaining than the previous generation's games.

It's part of our life - skiing, snowboarding, mountain sports. It was just about waiting for a good opportunity to create "Steep." At some point we had the technology and the team together. We saw a new trend around action sports, so decided to jump in," Ubisoft Annecy Game Director Arnaud Ragot told Venturebeat.

In terms of realism, Ragot said that the development team strived to made the general shapes of the mountains as close as possible to the real thing. However, they made some tweaks to the actual runs themselves in order for them to be fun for players and not frustrating.

Another thing where "Steep" is considered fun is that the characters in the game do not really "die" when they fail a run or fall off of a cliff. Players are instead urged to try again without any death animation from their characters.

"Steep" will be available across the said platforms in December. Ubisoft has partnered with GoPro to show a unique perspective for players in the game.
