The source, who was not approved to speak publicly regarding the findings of the investigation, admitted to the Associated Press that the investigation was concluded the last few days.

The alleged incident happened just before Pitt's wife Angelina Jolie filed a divorce before court citing "irreconcilable differences" being the primary ground for the split. A lawyer from Jolie's side also added that "for the health of the family", Jolie took such step.

Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) were reportedly looking into Pitt over the allegations arising from the incident between the actor and his teenage son, Maddox when the family was on board from France to Los Angeles. Although in reply to an e-mail, the DCFS refused to comment on the possible involvement with clients citing confidentiality laws, Variety reported.

Custody of the couple's six children has been the primary conflicting issue in their high-profile divorce case. While actor's wife Jolie is asking sole custody of all the children, Pitt is seeking for joint custody.

According to the terms agreed upon by both Pitt and Jolie, the actor can visit his children. Jolie's representative informed the media on Monday that although an agreement on custody has been reached, the final agreement will be part of the divorce judgment when it is entered.

Jolie's representative also added that actress was relieved that the inquiry was over and that the custody agreement in place would help the children "to heal", The Telegraph posted. On the other hand, Pitt's representative declined any comment.

Pitt and Jolie, these two were together for long 12 years after becoming close while shooting for the movie "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" and they were married for last two years. The couple has total six children - Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh and twins Knox and Vivienne.
