"Sleepy Hollow" Season 4 won't come out until next year, but we've already got the lowdown on what to expect from Ichabod Crane and his new partner Diana. As previously reported, Ichabod is moving to Washington, D.C. and might go through some emotional bumps in the wake of Abbie Mills' death.

As Tom Mison's Ichabod relocates to Washington, D.C., he teams up with Diana and a small group of researches to make sense of the supernatural mysteries that have been happening around the town. Aside from a change in his appearance (he's sporting shorter hair this season), being in a new place with new people puts Ichabod more on guard.

"There's a little less buffoonery, which I'm very, very pleased with. Because it doesn't do any favors for Ichabod - or Tom," Mison told TVLine about the developments to his character.

As for his new partner, Diana, Mison described her as someone who "has just lost her partner, and doesn't believe in the supernatural world, and is thrust into it with a man from 250 years ago." Janina Gavankar's character is said to "reintroduce the idea of how weird the universe is." Aside from Diana, many new characters will be introduced on "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4.

It will be different for Ichabod now that Abbie's gone in "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4. The character, portrayed by Nicole Beharie from Seasons 1 to 3, was killed off in "Sleepy Hollow" Season 3 finale, sending shockwaves to fans and Mison himself.

Abbie was a major character on the show, thus, her death led to speculations about the show possibly ending with Season 4. Mison even said that he didn't know there would be another season after Abbie died. The show was primarily rooted on Ichabod and Abbie's partnership, so it was natural for many to think that with "Ichabbie" no more, the show would be so, too.

"Abbie is the one the audience can relate to so when you're entering this insane world of Sleepy Hollow, you go with Abbie," Mison told The Realistic Optimist. "She's been the guide and Ichabod is this insane man in the periphery."

"Sleepy Hollow" Season 4 is scheduled to premiere in 2017 on FOX.
