Is it because it was just Halloween or are hoax makers so pepped up that they keep killing celebrities through death hoax stories on fake Facebook pages? Last week’s victim was rapper Eminem, while this week, it is Lisa Marie Presley’s turn.

Blasting News reported on Saturday that a tabloid magazine claimed the only daughter of Rock n’ Roll king Elvis Presley, Lisa Marie Presley, was allegedly placed in a psych ward in a Los Angeles rehab facility. She allegedly became suicidal while battling a prescription pill addiction.

The magazine said Lisa had a breakdown because of a recent custody and divorce battle with fourth husband, musician Michael Lockwood, after their 10-year marriage ended. The publication also wrote that the breakdown revealed she was allegedly abused sexually as a child, had a weird and disturbing marriage with Michael Jackson and mother-daughter issues with Priscilla Presley, her mother.

In August, days before the 39th death anniversary of Elvis, Lisa sought help to fight serious pill addiction. She was treated in a $400,000-a-month facility with round-the-clock private team of specialists who helped her through a mental and physical detox program, plus daily group and private counseling sessions.

Elvis himself battled pill addiction and Lisa has past addiction issues also through the years, Blasting News noted. She said in a 2003 interview that as a teenager, she took cocaine, pills, alcohol and marijuana, but eventually recovered through the Church of Scientology.

Mediamass reported that the death hoax was traced to a “R.I.P. Lisa Marie Presley” Facebook page which got one million likes. The wording of the page was very similar to the one used on Eminem, including asking fans to express their sympathy and condolence by commenting on and liking the page. However, the hoax news makers “killed” the rapper on Nov. 6 and Lisa on Nov. 11.

The next day, the representative of the 48-year-old singer and songwriter confirmed Lisa is alive. In a statement, the representative said, “She joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. She's still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet.”
