It was just last July when the fifth installment of the "Bourne" film series, "Jason Bourne," was shown on the big screen. Although the movie was reportedly said to have earned more than $400 million, recent reports claim that no follow up film is currently in the works.

According to Cinemablend, Matt Damon, who plays the role of Jason Bourne in the film series, revealed in an interview that the sixth installment of the franchise is not happening anytime soon.

Damon said that making "Jason Bourne" took them 7 months as they started filming in September 2015 and completed the movie by March of this year. The actor added that making another Bourne movie is a task that needs a lot of time to complete.

Despite the fact that Damon has confirmed of not doing another "Bourne" film at the moment, he still expressed his interest of doing the sixth chapter of the franchise. It can be recalled that Damon did not had any appearance in the previous installment of the franchise, "Bourne Legacy," which starred Jeremy Renner. Sources say that Damon's appearance in the latest film might be an attempt to save the franchise.

On the other hand, before the "Jason Bourne" movie was shown on the big screen, Damon already said in an interview that he is willing to leave the franchise and be replaced by another young actor. The actor said that doing action movies at his age, 49, is not as easy as he was 29 when he filmed the first installment of the franchise.

Damon added that he is totally fine of being replaced, and that he knows that he would eventually depart the "Bourne" series in order for it to have a reboot, The Guardian reported.

The same report also noted the rumors that Damon could be the next actor to play James Bond even if Daniel Craig did not confirm or announced his departure.
