Nam Joo-Hyuk and Lee Sung-Kyung recently talked about competing with Lee Min-Ho and Jun Ji-Hyun in the ratings battle. Interestingly, the Hallyu stars ended up in dramas MBC's "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo" and SBS' "The Legend of the Blue Sea" that contend with each other for viewership ratings.

At the "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo" press conference on Nov. 15, Tuesday, Sung-Kyung and Nam shared their thoughts in regards to contending with "The Legend of the Blue Sea." The former stated it was an honor to compete with Min-Ho and Jun, stressing that both are truly respectable actors.

"It's also a drama that I have been anticipating," Soompi quoted Sung-Kyung as saying. "I think the separate dramas we selected and are making are different. Ours has a youthful charm."

Instead of worrying over the ratings battle, Sung-Kyung went on to say that she wants to introduce the MBC drama without feeling any embarrassment. She hopes the coming-of-age sports drama does well, stressing that she will leave the ratings up to the viewers.

For Nam, he believed the "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo" viewership ratings will relentlessly rise, adding that they are working with a comfortable heart to make a bright and cheerful atmosphere for the viewers. Should viewership surpass 10 percent, the two promised to hold a special event for their fans.

In the drama, Sung-Kyung plays a 21-year-old athlete, Kim Bok-Joo, whose entire life has revolved around weightlifting. Nam, on the other hand, transforms into a talented swimmer, Jang Joon-Hyung, who have a playful personality.

Nam's character is a childhood friend of Kim Bok-Joo, Yonhap News Agency reported. After going their separate ways, the two meet again at the university and quibble with each other at every opportunity before eventually falling in love.

Aside from Sung-Kyung and Nam, the new MBC drama also stars Lee Jae-Yoon and Kyung Soo-Jin. The former will portray Kim Bok-Joo's mild-mannered daddy-long-legs named Jung Jae-Yi, while the latter plays a top-class rhythmic gymnast, Song Shi-Ho.

"Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo" air every Wednesday and Thursday at 10:00 PM (KST). Check out the first episode here:
