In her speech, Stefani revealed that it has been a year and a half ago since "she found herself heartbroken and hitting rock bottom". According to E! News, she was referring to her divorce last year with Gavin Rossdale whom she was married to for 13 years and share three sons.

"I was in a pool of tears, and I was so disappointed, and I was so low that I didn't think there was any way I could pick myself back up. And I remembered God gave me that gift [of music]... So I basically started pouring my heart into music, and music has saved my life," Stefani said in her speech at the Glamour's Women of Year Awards.

In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, the singer gave credit to her music since it became her way to cope with the pain of her divorce with Rossdale.

"I was so blessed to have music as an outlet and to be able to share my story and to get all that love. It was basically like giving and receiving of love all year long through music," she shared.

Aside from her music, Stefani also acknowledged her parents for the "gift of faith" and thank her fans and anyone who listened to her music in her speech at Glamour's Women of the Year Awards.

E! News added that Stefani ended her speech by giving her sincerest gratitude to her children, family and boyfriend, Blake Shelton.

"To my children, to my family, to Blake Shelton for kissing me back to life, thank you so much. I am blown away, I'm blown away by this room of unbelievable courage. It's unbelievable to be here tonight. I am really, really grateful," she said.
