Gwen Stefani, 47, graced the cover of Glamour's 2016 Women of the Year issue. In the accompanying interview, the pop singer is opening up more than ever about her split from Gavin Rossdale.

Stefani and Rossdale, who met during a tour opening in mid-1995, tied the wedding knots on Sept. 14, 2002, at St Paul's, Covent Garden, London. On Aug. 2, 2015, the former filed for divorce from the latter, citing irreconcilable differences.

"I don't think you'll talk to one person who didn't make it in a marriage who's not gonna feel that way," Stefani said when asked why she kept using the word "embarrassed" to describe her divorce, as cited by ET Online. "The intention of being married is the vow, right? You want to put everything into it to make it a success."

Though marriage was the one thing Stefani did not want to fail at, the No Doubt frontwoman admitted her marriage to Rossdale came with its set of challenges and issues. She added, "Ours was extra hard when you add that we're from different countries, both of us being in music, and celebrity."

Stefani believed sometimes one need to go through some really terrible and tough times to be woken up again in life. Fortunately, she turned her lemons into lemonade with her third studio album called "This Is What the Truth Feels Like." It is inspired by the end of her 13-year marriage and her brewing romance with country singer Blake Shelton.

"[Shelton] He was a friend to me when I needed a friend," said Stefani. "An unexpected gift. And that became an inspiration in the songwriting."

Shelton and Stefani's romance was introduced to the public in November 2015. Earlier reports claimed that wedding preparation is underway for the couple.

Along with the wedding reports, Shelton and Stefani are reportedly doing all they can to have a baby. It is said that the latter plans to undergo IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) treatments with hopes of becoming pregnant with a baby girl, an unnamed source told Life & Style Weekly.

While Shelton and Stefani are rumored to be actively pursuing pregnancy, the couple is still open to the idea of adoption. The source claimed that the two reportedly wants to have a little girl in their arms before the end of 2017.
