Sunderland has only won once after 11 rounds of English top flight competitions and it came in their most recent match. Still, it was not enough to take them out of the cellar of the 20-team Premier League table.

A 10-man Black Cats squad overcame all odds by nipping Bournemouth, 2-1, on the road at the Vitality Stadium on Nov. 5 to register their first-ever win this season, as per SkySports.

The hosts opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a close-range goal from midfielder Dan Gosling off an assist by defender Adam Smith.

Head coach David Moyes' side was able to find the equalizer in the 33rd with a stunning strike by Nigerian winger Victor Anichebe from a tight angle to make it a 1-1 count at the half.

Sunderland midfielder Steven Pienaar was sent off in the 59th after getting booked with a second yellow as the visitors went down to 10-men.

However, Moyes' men found a way to pull off the win as Jermaine Defoe smashes a spot kick in the 74th as the team held on for the victory.

Meanwhile, Hull City pulled off a 2-1 upset win over Southampton at their home ground of KCOM Stadium on Nov. 6, ESPN reported.

The Saints drew first blood with a penalty kick from forward Charlie Austin in the sixth minute, but two straight goals in the second half, courtesy of winger Robert Snodgrass and team captain Michael Dawson in 61st and 63rd minutes, gave the lead to the Tigers.

Both sides went scoreless from there as head coach Mike Phelan's squad snapped a six-game losing run.
