“Descendants of the Sun” actress Song Hye Kyo turned 35 on Tuesday, Nov. 22, with thousands of the Hallyu star’s fans greeting her on the special day.
On Instagram where she posts more often than in other social media platforms, the strawberry birthday cake she posted with the caption “Happy Birthday K.Y.O” received 233,000 likes in one day. Although most of the more than 17,000 comments on the post were similar with the familiar greeting of “Happy Birthday Unnie,” some fans posted more personal messages which reflect what followers of the Song-Song couple has been wishing for.
One such message is from yetticantik who wrote: “Happy birthday beauty. Hopefully next year you will be married to song Joong Ki and become a happy family. Amen.”
However, except for attending Song Hye Kyo’s advanced birthday celebration at the Nov. 13 fan meet, Song Joong Ki has not publicly greeted his “Descendants of the Sun” co-star through an Instagram message or tweet. As the day would end, it would once more dash the dream of the couple’s fans that the 31-year-old actor would propose marriage to Song Hye Kyo on the assumption that they are in a secret relationship.
It is the fourth major occasions in the life of the two Hallyu stars in 2016 that fans had expected either admission of an alleged secret romantic relationship or marriage proposal. The first time was during Song Joong-ki’s fan meet in China, the second on his birthday on Sept. 19, the third on her fan meet in Seoul and the last on her birthday.
While the two consistently deny any relationship – which gave rise to another rumor that Song Joong-ki is gay – fans and news organizations continue to hope for a real relationship between the two. Inquisitr, for instance, even cited a compatibility analysis made by Astromatcha that it would be a partnership of equals if the two “Descendants of the Sun” stars would get hitched since he is a Virgo man and she is a Sagittarius woman.
