For the past few months, news circulated that production of "Descendants of the Sun" season 2 is already unlikely to happen. Several issues were raised involving the main stars of the Korean series. There were reports that Joong Ki and Hye Kyo are too pre-occupied with their other commitments, rendering them unavailable for the filming of the second season.

In addition, Joong Ki was also involved in an issue that tarnished the reputation of "Descendants of the Sun." According to a report by All KPop, although the 37-year old actor is not directly affected by the $1.2-million lawsuit filed against the organizers of a meet and greet arranged for the actor, this has raised a negative impression for the TV drama.

This caused new speculations that although the series would push through, both actors will be replaced by new ones. However, since producers are aware that the war-themed drama is a hit because of the Song-Song pairing, they decided to cancel the sequel as a whole.

Despite all these, recent reports confirmed that the sequel's production is already green lit and would definitely push through. However, the release date is still unknown as of this timing.

In other news, Park Hwan Hee revealed she did not want to join "Descendants of the Sun" when she learned Hye Kyo will be joining, Korean Portal reported. Elaborating her statement, the actress revealed she have always looked up to Hye Kyo ever since she was a child. She recalled she almost gave up her role just to make things easier for her idol.

What even made her admire the 35-year old actress was when she needed to wash her face and did not complain about a thing. She really washed her face and smiled with her bare face, and she was even prettier," Hwan Hee recalled.
