People looking for a 5K display got a bit of good news when the LG UltraFine 5K version became available on Apple's website, until it was subsequently removed.
Display for computers and laptops garner a lot of attention and the same is true for the LG UltraFine 5K which popped up for sale on the Apple website. As soon as the display became available on the website, it was accorded a positive reception online as it was being offered at a discounted price of $974 compared to its full $1,299 tag.
However, the euphoria surrounding the availability of the display that has a 5120 x 2880 resolution was short lived because Apple quickly labeled it as unavailable, MacRumors reported. Currently, the display cannot be purchased online and on the Apple website it is listed as only becoming "available in December.
When the UltraFine 5K from LG first made its appearance during the Apple event held in October of this year, it arrived with a less fancy 4K sibling which is also smaller. Apple however did not provide any details as to when the UltraFine 5K that measures 27-inches would be available. Now, given that the display was pulled from the Apple website it appears that its listing was a mistake.
During the period of when the UltraFine 5K was available on the Apple website, it was listed as not being provided in any brick and mortar stores and it is likely that the stock could have sold out online. In case the display does go on sale again during the month of December the online store is expected to get first preference after which stocks will be pushed to stores.
Importantly, when the UltraFine 5K was announced it was touted as something that would enhance the experience of the all new MacBook Pro which comes with an OLED bar. The display uses a Thunderbolt 3 connection to link to the MacBook Pro and comes with a camera, microphone, P3 wide color gamut and speakers.
As of now as no availability has been provided for the UltraFine 5K but it could eventually end up arriving next year. Apple however has continued to indicate that it will arrive sometime during next month and first go on sale in the United States and Canada.
