It has been a great year for smartphones. Every major player in the industry has produced its masterpiece to cater to both loyal and new customers, but there is always the question of which one is the best. To check, the Apple iPhone 7 was pitted against five Android devices in a speed test.

The test conducted by Tech Radar included the Google Pixel, the Samsung Galaxy S7, the LG G5, the HTC 10, and the Sony Xperia XZ, along with the lone iOS device.  All these high-end smartphones feature striking displays, day-long battery life, incredible camera, and they are mostly dust- and water- resistant.

During the test, these six flagship smartphones had to load eight different applications, including the DAC music player, the games "Asphalt 8," "Fruit Ninja," and "N.O.V.A. 3,"  and export a file in Adobe Premiere Clip. The phones were also made to export a photo in Snapseed, load a 3D project file, and take a photo. The devices also had to load everything twice.

The results showed that the iPhone 7 beat them all with a total time of 1 minute and 11 seconds. The Pixel came in second at 2 minutes and 3 seconds, surpassing the Galaxy S7 by almost 15 seconds. The HTC 10 came in at 2 minutes and 40 seconds, the LG G5 with 16 seconds more, and finally the Xperia XZ at 3 minutes and 6 seconds.

The biggest surprise was not actually the smartphone from Apple coming out first but the loss of the Samsung device to the Google phone. The South Korean manufacturing giant has been known to be the king of Android devices but, according to Express, the test showed that the Pixel phone has just grabbed that title.

The iPhone lambasting the others came as a no surprise. The company designed and built their own hardware and software, so their new device is fine-tuned and well-balanced. This will surely make iPhone aficionados walk around like a champ. On the other hand, Sony fans would likely not be happy with the result of the test. Still, in the real world performance, not many people really open up eight heavy apps in succession.

All the smartphones mentioned above are available on most retailers worldwide.
