The official "The Mummy" reboot trailer is here and it is gotten really massive compared to its original predecessor. The reboot has its lead star Tom Cruise as a military leader facing a very powerful Mummy.

The 15-second trailer does not reveal much about the film except that effects-wise, it is going to be bigger than the original "The Mummy" film in 1999 that starred Brandon Fraser. Aside from Cruise, "The Mummy" reboot showcases a star-studded cast that includes Russell Crowe, Annabelle Wallis and newcomer Sofia Boutella. Boutella plays the first ever female mummy in the movie franchise's history, which dates as far back as the 1930s.

Boutella (fans would remember her from "Kingsman: The Secret Service"), plays an ancient princess whose tomb was safely tucked deep beneath the desert - or so they thought. The princess, whose destiny was unjustly taken from her during her lifetime, has now been awakened in the present time unleashing her wrath and terrifying powers that are set to threaten the human world at present.

According to Movie Web, Universal Pictures also released a special two and a half minute preview of "The Mummy" reboot, which also shows clips of Cruise sharing his thoughts on the film.

"The Mummy" reboot is part of Universal Studios' plan to create a movie universe about monsters and characters from horror stories. The concept is similar to the Marvel Cinematic Universe or the DC Comics Extended Universe, except for Universal its shared universe is filled with monsters not superheroes.

Universal's Monster Movie Universe is set to include man of the horrifying characters from Universal's horror movie catalogue, including the Invisible Man, which will be played by Johnny Depp, and Dr. Jekyll, to be portrayed by Russell Crowe. Luke Evans' Dracula was initially thought to take part in this shared universe, but "The Mummy" director Alex Kurtzman clarified that "Dracula Untold" and "The Mummy" are not connected, Comicbook.com reported.

"The Mummy" reboot release date will premiere in theaters on June 9, 2017.
