Dara Park’s career is thriving despite the recent breakup of the Korean girl group 2NE1. Her fans have not deserted her since a video of Dara performing with contestants of the Philippine reality show “Pinoy Boyband Superstars” got almost 1 million hits a day after it was posted.
She sang “Kiss” on the first night of the grand finals of the contest on Saturday. “Kiss” is her Korean dance single, released in 2009 as part of the “To Anyone” album. “Kiss,” which included 2NE1’s CL, was used as part of a promotional campaign for Cass Beer. It was initially released as a single but eventually included in the “To Anyone” album. The commercial featured Dara and Lee Min Ho.
Dara is a judge at the reality contest aired by TV station ABS-CBN where she started her career by landing runner-up in the station’s “Star Circle Quest” in 2004. Dara also posted on her Instagram account her photo with the grand finalists of “Pinoy Boyband Superstar” and the photo also went viral with more than 116,000 likes and 1,100 comments, Pep.ph reported.
Fans were surprised when she sang “Kiss” because it showed the sexy side of Dara who wore a white T-shirt and short shorts and dyed her hair blonde. A day before her first public performance after the breakup of 2NE1, she teased fans on an Instagram post that she would do a wild number and reveal a “new Sandara,” Myxph reported.
Together with the 2NE1, Dara made a surprise performance at the 2015 Mnet Asian Music Awards in Hong Kong. The same year, she starred in the web-drama “Dr. Ian” which was a hit not only in Korea but also in the U.S., Taiwan and Thailand.
