The latest details for "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" will feature a rumored final boss and possible new characters joining the roster.

Several rumors are making rounds regarding the possible final boss character in "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" as it is speculated that Thanos could be the sequel's final opponent due to his connection with the Infinity Stones.

It is speculated by various sources that the Marvel characters in "Marvel vs. Capcom: infinite" will likely be based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which will not likely include X-Men and Fantastic Four characters, although there are rumors suggesting they could be DLC fighters.

Still, players will likely face Thanos in the sequel due to his growing popularity in both comics and MCU based films leading to "Avengers: Infinity War", TheBitBag reported. Thanos has been featured in "Marvel Superheroes" fighting game as a final boss and a returning characters in "Marvel vs. Capcom 2".

Meanwhile, a new batch of characters that fans want to see in "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" has been revealed.

The first trailers for "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" featured returning characters Iron Man and Ryu, along with new fighters Captain Marvel and Mega Man X. The gameplay trailer also showcased Captain America and Morrigan as playable characters.

The new set of characters will include Groot, Loki, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch and The Purple Man for Marvel, while Capcom will be repesented by Samannosuke Akechi from "Onimusha", Felyne from "Monster Hunter", Q in "Street Fighter", Regina from "Dino Crises" and Leone S. Kennedy from "Resident Evil", Gamerant reported.

Capcom announced "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" during the PlayStation Experience event and the sequel will feature a 2-on-2 fight with the use of Infinity Stones system. Characters like Ryu can use the Power Stone to add more damage to his attacks, while Captain Marvel can increase her speed using the Time Stone.

Players will be able to equip different Infinity Stones before a match, granting themselves different abilities and effects. Unfortunately, Capcom has yet to explain all of the differences between these powers and what the benefits and drawbacks. In addition, an extended gameplay trailer featured returning characters Captain America and Morrigan in the sequel.

Capcom added that "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" will feature a a single-player Arcade, Training, and Mission mode, as well as a cinematic Story Mode that puts players in between both universes as they fight to the top to take on the game’s new villain who is revealed to be at the end of the cinematic trailer.

"Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" will launch sometime in 2017 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC platforms.
