It is gift-giving time once again and there might individuals out there who are still undecided about what to give their loved ones for the holiday season. Video games is a good option, and it is not only designed for teenagers. There are great ones for kids as well as for those who are young at heart.

Kids

There are several games appropriate for kids ages 10 up. These games are also less violent compared others.

One great option is "Pokemon Sun" and "Pokemon Moon," which are the latest titles in the "Pokemon" game series. They work on the Nintendo 3DS portable gaming device. The games are basically the same except for some features that are exclusive for either one.

"Lego Dimensions," meanwhile, is a Lego-themed game and who does not love Lego? Kids can experience building virtual Lego blocks together with their favorite Disney characters as well as characters from the Lego movie. Another nice thing about the game is, it works on multiple platforms, namely previous and current PlayStation and Xbox consoles. It also has a Nintendo Wii U version.

If one wishes a kid to be physically active even when playing video games, Huffington Post suggests "Just Dance 2017."  The game from Ubisoft also runs across multiple gaming devices and also works on the Windows PC.

"Dragon Quest Builders" (P4/PS3/PS Vita) and "World of Final Fantasy" (PS4, PS Vta) are other games suited for kids.

Teens and adults

"Overwatch" by Blizzard is an option for gift-givers who do not support violence even in video games. The available characters are soldiers, scientists and adventurers who have cartoon-like appearances. Players will participate in quick online team matches.  It work for the PlayStaiton 4, Xbox One and Windows PC, recommends USA Today.

Players of the PlayStation 4 action-adventure game "The Last Guardian" follow the adventures of a young boy who befriends a half-bird/half-mammal creature, like a griffin. They meet when they are both captured by the bad guys in the game. Gamers control the boy, who then controls the bird, in order to escape to freedom.

"Forza Horizon 3" is a video racing game and features many modern and classic four-wheeled machines. A total of 350 cars were available at launch and its developer is adding more. It is set in the continent of Australia, so the person receiving this game as a gift can also take a tour of the country. The game is available for the Xbox One and Windows PC.

Other non-violent games include "Sid Meier's Civilization VI" (PC) and "No Man's Sky" (PS4, PC).  More matured audiences would be able handle the more violent "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare," "Dishonored 2," "Dues Ex: Mankind Divided" "Unchartered 4: A Thief's End," "Dark Souls III," and a whole lot more.
