During the Season 1 finale for "Westworld" several of the android hosts attempted to leave the park and managed to stumble into a separate park marked "SW" or "Samurai World." Series creator Jonathan Nolan has now revealed whether or not Samurai World will be featured more prominently in Season 2.

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Nolan explained that in the original 1973 "Westworld" film there were other theme parks such as a Roman World and Medieval World and so the Samurai World was a play on this concept. It also showed how far the park had progressed in its 35 years of operation.

Nolan further explained that showing Samurai World to Maeve (Thandie Newton) would further drive the point that not only was she just a slave in a theme park but also a part of a large franchise. In Season 2 the rest of the hosts would discover their world getting bigger as more areas of the park are introduced.

Despite this, the Western theme park will still be the center of the show.

"Westworld remains the center of our narrative. That's the title of the show and that's what we're doing, so that will remain the center and heart of what we're doing," he stated. "But we're going to see the hosts start to realize and almost be offended by this notion."

Instead of going with the Roman World or Medieval World Nolan and Lisa Joy decided to go with a Samurai World because of the close relation between samurai films and westerns during the 1950s and 1960s.

He pointed out that as soon as a film by Akira Kurosawa would release Hollywood would make a Western remake. Some of these include "A Fistful of Dollars" which was a remake of "Yojimbo" and "The Magnificent Seven" which was a remake of "Samurai Seven."

According to We Got This Covered, there is the possibility that the Western theme park will be pushed into the background in later seasons. For the immediate future, however, Westworld will be the primary setting for the show.

"Westworld" Season 2 is scheduled for 2018.
