Watchers on the Wall suggests that one of the probable reasons why the show is tapping the fighting Irishman to play a part next season is that one of its directors is a big fan of the sport and might have thought that it would be great to see McGregor do a little bit of acting.

Moreover, it also noted McGregor's possible role in the inbound installment of "GoT." If such is anything to go by, it is believed that the cage fighter will be assuming the role of a sea raider aboard the ship "Silence" under the leadership of Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbæk). However, it was pointed out that McGregor will not have any dialogues for this one since his part will be more of a cameo, though it is still debated if this will continue until the series' final run.

Meanwhile, the abovementioned report about McGregor's participation may have been solidified by UFC's Dana White as he may have confirmed such in an interview on "Fox Sports Live," per TMZ. The UFC head stressed that he already knew about the show's plan in casting his champion on the show and added that he is happy that McGregor will be pushing through with it.

It's also noteworthy to mention that McGregor took part in other past projects, one of which is Infinity Ward's first-person shooter videogame dubbed "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare." The same title also rendered the services of Kit Harrington who played as one of the game's antagonists.

As of late, HBO remained mum about "GoT's" airdate, though if it were to base the show's penchant, the show might resume in mid-2017.
