Xiaomi's MIUI operations manager has spilled the beans that the company is now testing the beta version of MIUI 9 Android 7.0 Nougat OS.  Hence, it is soon expected to begin the rollout of the software upgrade.

Several smartphones manufacturers have managed to release flagship smartphones preloaded with the latest Android N OS. It seems that Xiaomi is lagging behind competitors like Lenovo and Huawei that have already confirmed to release Nougat OS for their smartphones.

Fresh information suggest that Xiaomi is actively working Nougat beta to get rid of Android N. MIUI's operation manager has claimed that Xiaomi Mi 4c, 4s and Mi Note will be upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat.

The information revealed by Xiaomi official does not seem to fully reliable as Xiaomi MI 4c and 4s are not flagship devices. Most companies usually prioritize in releasing latest Android version to the most recent flagship or highly popular smartphones.

Moreover, the Xiaomi Mi Note is powered by Snapdragon 801 chipset. It has been previously confirmed that smartphones running on Snapdragon 801 and 800 chipsets will not be receiving Android N upgrade as Qualcomm won't be releasing graphics driver for these chipsets.

Lenovo too has confirmed to release beta Nougat build to ZUK Z1 that is powered by Snapdragon 801. However, the smartphone is unlikely to receive the final and stable version of Nougat OS, GSM Arena reported.

Xiaomi's official has not revealed any information on releasing Android Nougat for latest flagships like Mi Note 2 or Mi 5s. Also, there is no word on the arrival latest software upgrade for budget friendly Redmi series smartphones.

Previously, it was reported that MIUI 9 flavored Android 7.0 Nougat will start hitting Xiaomi devices over the December-January period. However, since the Nougat beta build testing is actively going on at Xiaomi camps, it is likely that new flagships would be receiving the upgrade by the end of this year or in the first quarter of 2017.

The following devices have been rumored to get MIUI 9 Android 7.0 Nougat (version 9.6.9.23) update: Xiaomi Mi Note 2, Mi 5s, Mi 5s Plus, Mi 5, Mi Mix, Mi 4s, Mi 4i, Mi 4c, Mi Max, Mi Note Pro and Mi Pad 2.
