After announcing that it would release a kernel and root exploit for iOS 10.1.1, Google Project Zero team has finally released a successful patch to the public. This has prompted prospective Jailbreakers to downgrade from the just released iOS 10.2 to 10.1.1 as a preparative move.
According to Neuro Gadget, Project Zero's fruitful exploit means that the crucial steps are already done with, and although it might not be a successful jailbreak, the development was one of the most critical stages in the process. The Kernel and the Root exploit are supposedly what the jailbreak is expected to utilize in manipulating iOS.
Notably, on Dec 15, notorious hacker Luca Tedesco tweeted that there was a high chance that it would take project zero's exploits to develop a full jailbreak. He also advised interested iOS users to stay on iOS 10.1.1. if they wished to jailbreak in future.

He followed up on his post, announcing that he would later provide a patch on top of the already-released encryption to remove the post-exploitation codes. In relation to his revelation, he does not plan to outsource his codes, and the process might be very hard to reverse.
As of now, Todesco has already successfully jailbroken the iPhone 7, according to iClarified. He has also laid a demonstration of the jailbroken device on iOS 10.0.1 and iOS 10.1.1.
The Jailbreak community has expressed its excitement over the recent development, with many fans posting their reactions on Twitter. Majority are looking forward to seeing the release happen before the end of this year.
