"Surf World Series" is an upcoming video game coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC next year, and is all about riding the waves on the great blue sea. It has been 14 years since the last game about the extreme water sport was created.

Game developer Climax Studios has announced on the PlayStation Blog that their upcoming creation will let players feel the "intensity of the surging waves."  Gamers will then be able to perform "killer tricks" as put themselves on the board. It is set in five famous surfing spots in the world that include Waimera Bay in Hawaii and Bells Beach in the land down under.

"As developers, our goal was to capture the vibes that make surfing culture what it is - we amped up the intensity with powerful oceans, stunning backdrops and simple arcade gameplay," game producer Jamie Fisher said on the post. "'Surf World Series' is easy to get into, but pulling off epic stunts and new school tricks makes it deceptively difficult to master."

Players will have to master the art of timing and precision and have the courage to face those monstrous waves in order to be on top against other online players. The studio has painstakingly tried to mimic the natural behavior of the swells, which creates the push and pull effect of the water that can be experienced in real life surfing. Surfing aficionados will have to stay focused and balanced in order to perform the signature moves of the pros and they can even create their own style.

The upcoming game will offer 45 single player challenges and online tournaments with up to 15 other online surfers. There will be six playable characters, three different multiplayer modes, and it also offers day or night surfing, the game's website added.

The upcoming "Surf World Series" is reminiscent of 2002's "Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer" created by Treyarch. The exact release date of the upcoming extreme video game is still unknown but it has already been confirmed for 2017, and will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Widows PC.
