The concert tours of English singer Adele, Canadian singer Justin Bieber and American singer Bruce Springsteen top the StubHub ticket sales of 2016 while Beyoncé and Drake landed fourth and fifth, respectively. The online ticket exchange revealed on Dec. 15, Thursday, its live events report that shows the top events of the year based on sales via its ticketing market.

Billy Joel comes at No. 6, followed by Coldplay, Guns N' Roses, Pearl Jam and Luke Bryan. Springteen's Madison Square Garden show on March 28 was the top-selling single-day music event this year.

The list of top 10 music tours in 2015 has Taylor Swift at No. 1 followed by Garth Brooks, Joel, U2, Ed Sheeran, Bryan, The Grateful Dead, Kenny Chesney, One Direction and Rolling Stones. Joel and Bryan were the only artists who were on top 10 in 2015 and made it to this year's top 10 list as well.

Sporting events top events overall with Super Bowl coming in first. The number 2 to 6 slots have all the games from the historic World Series between the Cleveland Indians and Chicago Cubs this fall, Billboard reported.

The overall top genre based on total ticket sales this year are the concerts. The list of top-growing genres year-over-year has theater, music festivals and concerts.

StubHub pulled out the artists each of the four professional sports fans was most associated with based on nationwide crossover purchases. The National Hockey League and Major League Baseball went for Springsteen while the National Football League and the National Basketball Association went for Beyonce and Drake, respectively.

A survey conducted by StubHub also revealed that live events spending increased 8 percent worldwide over 2015. "Hamilton" musical has four times sales amount of any other production in Broadway while Coachella and Lollapalooza stay as the top two festivals of the year and top music events. January has the year's lowest ticket sales while October has the highest, undoubtedly due to the World Series.

Meanwhile, Adele is set to tour Australia starting Feb. 28, 2017. Many of the tickets are already sold out as early as now, according to Adele Live.
