The year 2016 marked an important period in Park's career as an actor in the South Korean entertainment industry. Following the success of the tvN drama "Reply 1988," his KBS drama "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" also earned high ratings during its 18-episode run.

Park's popularity even extended outside of South Korea as evidenced by the actor's two successful fan meetings. Held in Malaysia and Hong Kong on Dec. 10 and Dec. 17, respectively, a total of 7,000 fans came to greet the former "Music Bank" host.

After establishing an impressive career in South Korea, it appears that Park is looking to star in other productions outside of his home country. During the press event prior the actor's Hong Kong fan meeting, he shared his dreams of a potential overseas debut, All Kpop quoted the actor as saying.

However, the "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" actor admitted that he still lacks the necessary abilities and talents to embark in an international career. Following the steps of veteran star Lee Byun Hyun who starred in several Hollywood films is also one of Park's career aspirations. He added, "In order to do so, I'll really have to work hard and put in my blood, sweat, and tears."

In other news, Park nabbed the first place in tvN's "The List" that identified the South Korean celebrities whose achievements in 2016 made them one of the popular stars in the entertainment industry. With two TV dramas that aired in the year, Park proved his popularity given the impressive viewership shares of his previous tvN and KBS productions, according to Korean news outlet Xports News.

"Reply 1988" peaked at 18.8 percent while "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" reached 23.3 percent. Moreover, Park also won several awards and landed 12 endorsement deals in 2016 alone.

Park is set to travel to Indonesia, Taiwan, Japan and Thailand in the first quarter of 2017 for his Asia Tour Fan Meeting before returning to Seoul. Watch a clip from series finale of "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" below:
