‘Descendants of the Sun” actress Song Hye Kyo will attend the KBS Drama Awards on Dec. 31. She confirmed her attendance in a message to fans on Instagram.
After she confirmed on Instagram, fans such as miri9109 hopes that she would get the Grand Excellence Award (Daesang) because while “Descendants of the Sun” was a nice drama, it was Song Hye Kyo’s portrayal of Dr. Kang Mo Yeon which made the TV series perfect and memorable.
Miri9109 added that Baeksang and APAN awards, held a few months ago, were unfair to Song Hye Kyo for not recognizing her acting in “Descendants of the Sun.” The fan, however, admitted she do not know if she should hope or not for the Daesang.
Since KBS already closed on Dec. 18 online voting for the awards, to be hosted by Park Bo Gum, at the KBS Hall in Yeouido. According to results of the online voting, Kee Jong-suk of “W Two Worlds” is number 1 with 39.41 percent of the votes, followed by Song Joong-ki with 19.5 percent of the votes.
For the Best Actress, Han Hyo-joo of “W Two Worlds” is number 1 with 39.35 percent of the votes. Song Hye Kyo rallied and is number 2 from number 3 with 27.9 percent of the votes. In the Best Couple category, the “W Two World” stars topped with 39.3 percent of the votes, while the SongSong couple also overtook the Kim Rae-won and Park Shin-hye couple by placing second with 26.31 percent of the votes.
In the Best Drama, online voting results say “W” led with 39.65 percent of the votes, followed by “Descendants of the Sun” with 25.29 percent of the votes. However, the four awards could possibly be just a sub-category for K-Drama because according to Inquisitr, based on the 2015 categories, the KBS Drama Awards has 18 categories.
These are Best Child Actor, Best Child Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Popular Actor, Popular Actress, Rookie Awards, Best Couple, Excellence Actor in a daily drama, Excellence Actress in a daily drama, Excellence Actor in a mini-series, Excellence Actress in a mini-series, Excellence Actor in a medium-length drama, Excellence Actress in a medium-length drama, Excellence Actor in a full-length drama, Top Excellence Actor, Top Excellence Actress, Daesang, PD Award, and Best Screenwriter.
Online voting by Inquisitr, with 800 votes, showed that 95 percent believe the SongSong couple would win the Best Onscreen Couple award. Song Joong-ki has not yet confirmed, although based on his attendance records in the past awards in 2016, he likely would also attend the event.
