It appears that "Goblin" writer Kim Eun Sook paid homage to her hit series "Descendants of the Sun" when she used a nearly identical character line in the tvN drama. A scene in "Goblin" that involved the grim reaper's (Lee Dong Wook) encounter with Sunny/Sun Hee (Yoo In Na) on a bridge featured a line similar to what Captain Yoo (Song Jong Ki) said in the KBS series.

Avid viewers of "Goblin," also known as "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God," noticed a dialogue that parodied one of the unforgettable lines in the hit KBS series "Descendants of the Sun." Featured in "Goblin" episode 6, the scene showed a panicked grim reaper who magically hid himself when he saw Sunny walking towards him on a pedestrian bridge.

When Sunny suddenly stopped in front of the invisible grim reaper and questioned who he may be and why he made her so besotted over him, the immortal character's answer is similar to Captain Yoo's memorable line. The "Goblin" character stated quietly to himself that he is a grim reaper who follows orders and that sometimes the person he "[believes] is Sun Hee might be Sunny to another."

The grim reaper's line is a revised version of what Captain Yoo said in "Descendants of the Sun." In the said character's original dialogue, he indicated that he is a soldier who follows orders and that there are times when the things that he "[believes] to be good and right means something to another."

Despite the parody scene, many viewers applauded Kim for incorporating the memorable "Descendants of the Sun" line in the tvN drama, according to Korea Herald. Both drama projects were penned by Kim which explained the dialogue parody.

In other news, "Goblin" remained at the top of a TV popularity chart for the second consecutive week. Entertainment company CJ E&M and Nielsen Korea's Content Power Index, as cited by Yonhap News, ranked the tvN drama as the most popular TV program for the week of Dec. 5 to Dec. 11.

With 313.9 points, "Goblin" bested "Legend of the Blue Sea" that only scored 254.1 points on the said index. Other dramas who nabbed a spot on the TV popularity chart includes "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo" and "Dr. Romantic."
