Blizzard and "Overwatch" director Jeff Kaplan has released a new Developer Update video. The video feature showcases the planned DLC packs and tweaks Blizzard aims to release in 2017 and when these updates are expected to release.

Kaplan explained that there will be a few tweaks coming for the latest DLC character, Sombra. He confirmed that Blizzard was taking things slowly in updating her in order to avoid the issues they encountered when re-balancing their previous DLC character, Ana.

He explained the developers already have an idea of what they're going to do with Sombra but are waiting to see a "mystery curve" with the character before implementing these changes. This indicates the character is not going to see a successive series of changes in a short period of time.

The director also confirmed that the new DLC map, Oasis, was launching in early 2017. According to Gamespot, this meets the deadline Blizzard initially stated back during BlizzCon. The map is currently available solely on PTR.

It was also confirmed that there will be more events coming around the New Year. It was stated that some of these events will revolve around the holiday themes but others will reportedly be surprising and unexpected.

According to Electronic Gaming Monthly, there will also be special events coming that will give players custom skins and sprays. These will be similar to the "Summer Games" and "Halloween Terror" events and are going to release in 2017.

"Overwatch" will also get more customization options. Kaplan stated that players will be able to add up to four voice lines as well as emotes. He also stated maps other than Oasis are coming as well as new game modes but these are still in early development.

There will also be new DLC characters. "We're working on multiple new heroes," he explained. "We have one hero that I think is very promising, in fact, we've started to move it through our art pipeline. Which means we have a higher level of confidence in that than some of our other heroes."

He further stated that some of the characters they are developing may not hit their high standards and could never see the light of day. No teaser image for these upcoming DLC characters have yet been shared.
