New details for "Overwatch" will feature more characters, maps and events for the game next year, as well as, a "Space Jam" themed costume for Lucio.
Game director Jeff Kaplan announced what is in store for "Overwatch" in the early months of 2017 as he teased multiple characters, game maps and events very soon. One hero that is coming to "Overwatch" has been described as "very promising" and moving to the art pipeline, which indicates “higher confidence” they will make it to release. Plus, Blizzard has more "prototypes" in line for the game.
The new map Oasis is still on track in "Overwatch" for a ver "early" 2017 launch. There are a range of other maps that are in the development process, including one that the "Overwatch" team is “pretty confident” in. Kaplan did not want to talk too much about it, but said it is for a traditional game mode.
Blizzard expect gaming fans to be surprised by the number of gaming events they have planned for "Overwatch" next year. Blizzard has revealed new features inbound for next year, including an upgrade to the communications wheel allowing gamers to carry up to four voice lines, four emotes and four sprays. To help encourage users to join "Overwatch’s" team chat rather than party chat and the developers are adding a control similar to the stay-as-group button.
The developers hopes to get to requested features for spectator mode in the new year, and expects to launch version 1.0 of its "Overwatch" custom game server browser early on, then expand on it throughout the year, VG 24/7 reported.
In other news, gaming fans made a petition in "Overwatch" Reddit page requesting that Blizzard Entertainment add "Space Jam" themed costume for Lucio including the famous song intro: "Everybody get up, It's time to slam now. We got a real jam goin' down, welcome to the space jam!"
Lucio is a Brazilian DJ in "Overwatch" that basically uses rhythm and beats as his abilities. Due to his nature of being wild and somewhat cartoonish, it is safe to say that "Space Jam" works perfectly well for the hero. Enough for fans to even state that they are willing to pay a hefty amount just to incorporate "Space Jam" lyrics into his voice lines.
Previous reports revealed that "White Chicks" star Terry Crews could be voicing the next DLC character Doomfist during his visit to Blizzard's office. While the details from his visit are still unknown, the trip will lead to fan speculation that Blizzard is taking Crews up on his offer of playing a character in the game.
Blizzard Entertainment will likely reduce the number of "draw" decisions in Assault maps for "Overwatch" as gamers were very vocal about the topic.
As such, the game developers decided to look into these assault maps, particularly Hanamura, Volskaya and Anubis. Kaplan stated that they are adding some potential changes and lowering draws in "Overwatch".
"Overwatch" is currently available for the PS4, Xbox One and PC platforms.
