Xiaomi and Meizu have been launching similar kinds of smartphones for different types of customers. The midrange Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 that was announced in August has a new rival in the market. It is the Meizu M5 Note. Here is a comparison between the two smartphones on the basis of their specs, features and pricing.

Design and Display

The Redmi Note 4 has a full metallic chassis with chamfered edges. It measures 151 x 76 x 8.4 mm and weighs 175 grams. It is available in colors like silver, gray, gold, blue and black.

The Meizu M5 Note also features a metal unibody construction with slighter curves. Its dimensions are 153.6 x 75.8 x 8.2 mm and its weight is 175 grams. It comes in colors like gray, silver, gold and blue.

Both the smartphones have 2.5D curved glass on front side. The 5.5-inch IPS LCD display of Redmi Note 4 supports full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It offers a screen-to-body ratio of 72.7 percent.

The 5.5-inch LTPS IPS LCD screen of Meizu M5 Note delivers full HD resolution and at the same time consumes less power. The screen-to-body ratio of M5 Note is 70.9 percent.

Chipset, RAM and Storage

The MediaTek MT6797 Helio X20 featuring 2.1 GHz deca-core processor along Mali-T880 MP4 graphics powers the Redmi Note 4. On the other hand, the MediaTek MT6755 Helio P10 chipset featuring octa-core processor and Mali-T860 graphics is present under the hood of Meizu M5 Note.

The 16 GB and 64 GB storage models of Redmi Note 4 respectively feature 2 GB and 3 GB of RAM. The Meizu M5 Note with 16 GB and 32 GB native storage sizes feature 3 GB of RAM. Its 64 GB storage variant has 4 GB of RAM. Both the smartphones hybrid SIM slot that supports a microSD on their secondary SIM slot.

Camera, Software and Other Features

Both smartphones feature dual LED flash enabled 13-megapixel rear facing camera. However, the rear shooter on Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 has f/2.0 aperture lens whereas the Meizu M5 Note's rear camera has f/2.2 aperture lens. The Note 4 and M5 Note also feature 5-megapixel frontal camera.

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS with MIUI 8.0 UI is present on Redmi Note 4. The same Android version with Flyme 6.0 UI is available on Meizu M5 Note.

The Xiaomi phone has a microUSB v2.0 port whereas the Meizu phone is equipped with USB Type-C port. The Note 4 has a rear-facing fingerprint sensor. The M5 Note has a fingerprint reader embedded in Home button at the front.

Battery and Price

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 has a 4,000 mAh battery with fast charging support. The Meizu M5 Note has a slightly smaller 4,000 mAh battery that comes with fast charging support.

The 16 GB and 64 GB Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is priced at 899 Yuan ($129) and 1,199 Yuan ($172), respectively, Android Central reported. The 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB variants of Meizu M5 Note are respectively priced at 899 Yuan ($129), 999 Yuan ($143) and 1,499 Yuan ($215), GSM Arena reported.
