Xiaomi has finally released MIUI 8 Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to Redmi Note 3. Speculations are rife that the update would soon arrive for Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime.
The Redmi Note 3 was launched with MIUI 8 Android 5.0 Lollipop in February 2016 and its owners are finally able to upgrade to MIUI 8 Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. MIUI forums has the downloads for Recovery and Fastboot ROMs.
The update brings the Android version 6.0.1 MMB29M and MIUI Global 8.1.1.0 (MH0MIDI) Stable version. It also includes Android security patch for November month. The OTA (over-the-air) update can be installed by navigating to Settings > About Phones> System Updates.
The Redmi Note 4 was launched in China in August this year. It comes loaded with MIUI 8 Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS. Xiaomi has managed to release the software upgrade for Redmi Note 3 just before the alleged arrival of the Redmi Note 4 in January 2017 in India.
MIUI 8 Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow for Redmi 3S, 3S Prime
Now that the update has arrived for Redmi Note 3, speculations are rife that Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime will also be upgraded to the MIUI 8 Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow very soon.
The Redmi 4, Redmi 4A and Redmi 4 Prime smartphones were unveiled in August this year in the home country. It is also expected to debut in first quarter of 2017 in India. Xiaomi is now speculated to release MIUI 8 Android 6.0.1 upgrade for Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime in early 2017 before the launch of Redmi 4 series in India.
Xiaomi is also rumored to be working on MIUI 8 Android 7.0 Nougat update for its flagship devices. The company has released Xiaomi MIUI 8 Android 7.0 Nougat closed beta to Xiaomi Mi 4s, Mi 4c, Mi Max and Mi Note.
In the previous month, Xiaomi had released the same update for Xiaomi Mi 5 and after one month of testing it rolled out Android 7.0 Developer ROM. Hence, the same ROM is expected to be available for Mi 4s, 4c, Mi Max and Mi Note, Gizmo China reported.
As far as final and stable MIUI 8 Android 7.0 Nougat is concerned for flagships like Mi 5, Mi 5s, Mi 5s Plus and Mi Note 2, it is expected to be available in early 2017.
