"Arrow" Season 5, episode 10 will soon reveal the truth behind the return of Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy).
In the midseason finale for the hit The CW series, Laurel made a surprise return to Star City. She also came face to face with the lead character, Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell). However, a new promo for "Who Are You?" revealed that the Laurel that returned is not the Laurel that was loved by many when she was still alive.
While speaking with TV Line, co-showrunner Wendy Mericle explained their decision to feature Laurel back on "Arrow." According to her, the female character's return is expected to bring Oliver's focus back. However, when Oliver finds out the truth about who this Laurel is, he should be prepared to face bigger challenges ahead.
"It is a familiar face, someone he loves and is very happy to see, and now she is back in the flesh, so it is a very welcome surprise. And yet as we often say, nothing is really ever as it seems. There will definitely be a dark silver lining when Oliver finds out what is really goin," she said.
Meanwhile, "Who Are You?" will also unveil more information about the shocking death of Detective Malone (Tyler Ritter). In the finale, the detective was attacked by the Green Arrow after he tried to share some secret information to his peers. When "Arrow" returns next year, Oliver will dig into his death to help give Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) the peace of mind that she deserves.
In other news, now that Detective Malone is already dead, there are rumors that Felicity and Oliver will eventually reunite with each other. Moving forward into the second half of the season, fans can expect to see Felicity unleashing her dark side. Mericle told TV Line during a separate interview that Felicity and Oliver will not get back together any time soon. In fact, the former will blame the latter for the death of her late boyfriend. Moving forward, Felicity will also meet some people from her past and future.
"Arrow" Season 5, episode 10 will air on The CW on Jan. 25 at 8 p.m. EST.
