"Quantico" star Priyanka Chopra is rooted in her Indian culture and is a prayerful person, according to her mother Madhu Chopra. The mother recently mentioned this when she talked about "Sarvann," the new film produced by her daughter's banner Purple Pebble Pictures.

"She is a true-blue Punjabi at heart and a very religious person," Madhu told DNA. "She doesn't step out of the house without doing her puja. She is a god-fearing person."

Madhu stressed that her daughter is grounded in her cultural values. Despite her current success and international fame, the actress never forgets where she comes from.

No one can take India from the former Miss World, Madhu added. Wherever she goes, she greets people with a Namaste. Such trait is reflected in the Bollywood superstar's projects, the current one of which is the Punjabi film "Sarvann," which features Indian culture and values.

The 34-year-old actress and film producer is planning for the international release of "Sarvann," especially in Canada. The film is set for release on Jan. 13, 2017 on the eve of Lohri in Punjab.

"There's a big market for Punjabi films in Canada, Australia and New Zealand," Madhu told the Indian broadsheet. "Along with Europe, these are all emerging as great markets."

Madhu added that Priyanka is excited about the turnout of the film's trailer launch in November in Toronto, Canada. The actress had attended film festivals and shows in Canada but it was the first time she did for her own film.

Punjabi singer and actor Amrinder Singh Gill was in the "Sarvann" promotional tour as well. He has a huge following abroad among Punjabi audiences, according to Madhu.

"Sarvann" tells the story of a young NRI who lives in Canada. His ambition to get rich quickly leads him to the wrong company. He lands in India after losing all his belongings and was guided to a gurdwara where he learned about the true meaning of life and the greatness of the Sikhism core religious scripture Guru Granth Sahib.

Meanwhile, Priyanka just joined Selena Gomez, Eva Mendes, Gisele Bundchen and Ronda Rousey as a Pantene ambassador, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She will star in the upcoming "Baywatch" movie opposite Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron set for release in January 2017.
