"The Originals" Season 4 will soon feature a reunion between Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies).
According to executive producer Michael Narducci, the two characters, who are considered to be star-crossed lovers, will be having the most dynamic journey in Season 4. When the series returns to The CW, Hayley and Elijah will be exiting in two different platforms. But very early on in the season, viewers will know what Hayley can do to help Elijah reunite with his loved ones, most especially his brother, Klaus (Joseph Morgan).
"These are two who clearly love each other, even though they have a very complicated situation. Elijah is a thousand-year-old vampire with a sense of honor and dignity, yet he is capable of doing unspeakable things. Hayley, despite being a hybrid, has only lived a mortal lifetime, and she has values and ethics that approximate those of a human being. When their family is put in jeopardy, these two people are going to do whatever they have to do to protect each other," he told TV Line.
Meanwhile, despite their issues from the past, Klaus and Hayley have also become good friends. In the finale episode for Season 3, Klaus was instrumental in helping to save his siblings. He was also able to entrust his daughter Hope in the hands of Hayley who he has come to respect and trust more than he does for another person.
While speaking with TV Line during a separate interview, Narducci reminded fans that Hope bonds Klaus and Hayley to each other for the rest of their lives. Since this is the case, the parents have to try and get along, at least for the sake of their daughter. They will also do everything that they can to protect their child, even if this means having an amicable relationship.
"They are not lovers, but they are the parents of this girl, and they have to be in concert if they are going to do everything they need to do to raise her and protect her," he said.
"The Originals" Season 4 will return to The CW with new episodes starting March 2017.
