The midseason finale of "The Blacklist" Season 4 featured Red's reluctant confession that Liz is his daughter. However, many fans speculated that Red may have only made the said statement to appease Kirk's (Ulrich Thomsen) curiosity and stop the said villain from further torturing him.

Moreover, the secret message that Red whispered to Kirk may hold a vital clue to Liz's parentage. It was enough to stop Kirk from killing him and from appearing in Liz's life again.

In an interview with TVLine, series creator Jon Bokenkamp commented that they have no plans of having Kirk re-appear in the NBC series. Meanwhile, the first half of "The Blacklist" Season 6 may have focused on Kirk and Liz's storyline but the remaining episodes will highlight Liz's bond with Red, according to the showrunner.

Despite declining to divulge plot details, Bokenkamp teased that viewers will see more of Liz's and Red's dynamics in upcoming episodes. Moreover, Red's planned surprise for Liz will change how the task force will view the said agent.

Bokenkamp may be referring to Red's political machinations that resulted to Liz being reinstated back to the task force. Featured in the midseason premiere of "The Blacklist" Season 6, Red used his connections with the President-elect to ensure that Liz is pardoned and given her job back.

Released on Jan. 5, the said episode also revealed that Samar (Mozhan Marno) was the spy that they were looking for. Samar's actions will also affect her relationship with Aram (Amir Arison).

In an earlier interview with Entertainment Weekly, Executive Producer John Eisendrath commented that the two characters' relationship will be different in the back half of Season 6. He stated, "The dynamic that Samar and Aram have had ... will change."

"The Blacklist" Season 6 airs every Thursday on NBC. Watch a teaser clip for the upcoming episode below:
