LG has confirmed that they will be moving away from the modular setting with the upcoming G6. They want to avoid the mistake that was the LG G5 which fared poorly in sales across the world despite having good specs and features.

The LG G5 was quickly overshadowed by the new LG V20 which did well but is still considered as one of the most underrated smartphones of 2016. LG G6 specs, features, price and release dates are not yet revealed by the company but they did confirm that there will be no more modular features similar to its predecessor.

One LG spokesman told The Wall Street Journal that the LG G5 modular features will not make it to the G6 because they know that it just flopped. It was supposed to be seen as an innovative move for the South Korean tech company but people did not eat up the idea.

Google tried a similar approach with their Project Ara modular smartphone and it seemed to gain traction fast but the search engine giant confirmed its end in late 2016. Hopefully, the Google Pixel and Pixel XL will not share the same fate.

LG G6 specs and features will include the much-loved 3.5mm stereo headphone jack with the USB-C port still a mystery, Pocket-Lint reported. It may also be powered by the recently revealed Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 which is claimed to be more efficient than the current 820.

The LG G6 may also sport an enormous 5GB ram considering that the V20 already has 4GB. It can also feature a QHD resolution screen with the size ranging from five to 5.6 inches. The device is also expected to carry high-end specs as it will be another flagship phone for LG to compete with the upcoming Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8 and even the iPhone 8.

Fans will have to wait for Mobile World Congress 2017 to see whether the rumored LG G6 specs and features are true. Price and release dates are also expected to be revealed soon.
