HMD Global that now owns Nokia confirmed that it will be present at MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2017 event to unveil a new product. Speculations claim that Nokia Edge may be showcased at the event.
The MWC 2017 event will be held from Feb 27 to March 2. During a recent meeting, Nokia show a slide that had 'See you at MWC 2017, February 26' in Chinese language. Hence, Nokia has hinted to launch something on Feb. 26 through a press event.
As of this writing, there is no confirmation on the arrival of flagship smartphone from Nokia at MWC 2017. However, speculations are claiming that the Snapdragon 835 powered flagship would be unveiled at the upcoming press event, Gizmo China reported.
Nokia Edge a smartphone with dual-edge curved screen is rumored to be in works. This flagship is likely to house a Snapdragon 835 SoC. However, the company is unlikely to unveil at the MWC 2017. Xiaomi is heavily pegged to be the first company to showcase Snapdragon 835 flagship, the Mi 6 at MWC 2017.
Leaked details have suggested that Nokia is going to launch 6 to 7 smartphones this year. It has already made a comeback to the smartphone world by launching Nokia 6 midrange smartphone. According to Nokia Power User, a global variant of Nokia 6 may get announced at MWC 2017.
Nokia 6 will go on sale in China starting at 10:00 AM on Jan. 19. Jingdong.com, a Chinese retailer that has reportedly signed a 5-year contract with Nokia will exclusively sell its smartphones in the home country.
Fresh details suggest that Nokia might release a Nokia 6 variant for customers outside China. The reason behind it is that a new variant of Nokia 6 with model number TA-1003 has been spotted alongside the original TA-1000 model receiving Bluetooth certification.
Nokia's chassis is made up of series 6000 aluminum. It has a 5.5-inch screen, a Snapdragon 430 SoC and 4 GB of RAM. Other specs include 64 GB native storage, a 16-megapixel camera, an 8-megapixel selfie shooter, dual speakers equipped with Dolby ATMOS surround sound and a 3,000 mAh battery. It is priced at 1,699 Yuan ($245).
