LG is preparing its next flagship smartphone following the release of its G4 and G5 handsets last year. Now, recent reports reveal the upcoming LG G6's new display, which will feature the world's first 5.7-inch QHD+ display.

The South Korean company introduced its new display unit that will bring an aspect ratio of 18:9 and pixel density of 564 ppi. The company pushed its latest display beyond the traditional smartphone screen units, which has evolved from 4:3 to 3:2 then turning to 5:3 before the current 16:9 sizes.

As LG's displays turn into a new direction, the company plans to install the QHD display into its upcoming LG G6 smartphone. Upon integration, the display will come in 1440 X 2880 pixel resolution. The handset will also be encased on thinner screen as its left and right bezels will be reduced by 0.54mm, while the top will shrink by 0.2mm, iPost has learned.

Through a bigger 18:9 screen ratio, LG's upcoming smartphone will be ideal for watching videos, multi-tasking, as well as using dual-screen functions. And with the more responsive feature due to LG's in-Touch technology, users will get more accuracy in typing and screen interfaces. This technology will also remove the cover glass on displays, making the device slimmer than other brands.

LG Display executive director of mobile division Kim Byung-Koo tagged the monumental technology as the display that will "maximize user experience and value by providing ultra-high definition, which differentiates from other brands."

"We expect to maximize user experience and customer value through the super high-quality display with its new 18:9 aspect ratio, which sets it apart from conventional displays for smartphones. LG Display will continue to set new standards in premium mobile displays, based on its differentiated technology," Byung-Koo added.

According to NDTV, the company claims an improvement on outdoor visibility of the display, thanks to the display's 10-percent increase in transmittance. Furthermore, the display efficiency has been increased by up to 30 percent.

Recent reports suggest that LG is expected to announce its next flagship smartphone, referred to as the LG G6, at the end of February, during the annual Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
