In a recent interview with Vogue, Dakota Johnson, talks about her first major movie character as Anastasia Steele in the "Fifty Shades" movie franchise, her growing understanding of BDSM and what she thinks of going naked for her films.
According to Vogue, the Hollywood actress shares a canning similarity with her fictional "Fifty Shades" character.
The fashion magazine in its February, 2017 issue wrote, "There is always, with Johnson, an air of naughtiness mingled with an air of surprised pleasure at her own naughtiness. Is it a public accommodation, almost reflexive at this point, to the three years of prurient attention that have accompanied her star turn opposite Jamie Dornan in the film adaptation of 'Fifty Shades of Grey'."
For Johnson, her character "Ana" is a "badass woman", "hyperintelligent", "hypersexual", "very tough" and "very loving". These are the different aspects in "Ana" which she tried to "amplify". Thus, in the process of understanding her character's "complex sexual life", the actress "has developed a deep admiration for BDSM, which she feels is still vulnerable to ignorance and scorn".
"It [BDSM] can be very beautiful and tasteful, and the materials can be luxurious... But what I admire is the bravery and the honesty of people who get down with it, who aren't afraid to say that they need something a bit more in order to get off. America is still so sexually oppressed. Isn't God's gift to humans the orgasm?," she said.
Aside from BDSM, Johnson candidly shares her thoughts on being naked on set.
"Nudity is really interesting for an actor... There's no jewellery to give you a clue about social status. So it becomes purely about the performance," she told Vogue.
Johnson also maintains to have an open mind when it comes on nudity in her upcoming films that she even revealed that she may have to stop showing her intimate body parts when her "boobs start sagging".
"Will I stop doing nude scenes when my boobs start sagging? I don't know. Maybe I have more of a European mind-set about these things. I don't want to see someone wearing a bra and underwear in a sex scene. Let's be honest about it. People are naked when they f*ck," she added.
Johnson will reprise her role as Anastasia Steel in second movie of the "Fifty Shades" movie franchise, "Fifty Shades Darker", Inq Pop! reported. She is joined by her onscreen partner Dornan who will be acting as Christian Grey, a wealthy business mogul who is fond of BDSM (bondage and discipline-B&D, dominance and submission-D&S, and sadism & masochism-S&M).
In the second film, Steele gets back to Grey. This time, however, she sets the rules. As they begin to trust each other and their relationship deepens, Grey's past comes back hounding the couple.
"Fifty Shades Darker" will be released in theaters worldwide next month.
