The Barden Bellas are back for "Pitch Perfect 3" for another aca-awesome school year. In addition to Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow and Anna Camp, Hailee Steinfeld is also confirmed to reprise her role as legacy and newbie bella Emily.
There are rumblings that "Pitch Perfect 3" is in production in Atlanta, and Steinfeld herself confirmed through an Instagram post that she is still part of the successful musical franchise. According to The Daily Mail, the actress posted in front of a big "3," and captioned her photo "RELAX, pitches. I'm here. #PitchPerfect."
Steinfeld joined the Barden Bellas in "Pitch Perfect 2" as a new recruit and a legacy, meaning her mother is also a Bella alum.
For now, little is known about what the "Pitch Perfect 3" plot will be. In the sequel, which saw a three-year time jump from the first film, Beca (Kendrick), Fat Amy (Wilson) and Chloe (Snow) were presumably in their last year in college. However, it appears that they have not graduated yet and will still be part of the main Barden Bella roster in the third film.
For now, it is also unclear what role the graduates will have in the third film. It is presumed, however, that Steinfeld will have a bigger role and might even succeed Beca as the new leader of the Barden Bellas.
According to Just Jared, Skylar Astin will not reprise his role as Jesse Swanson, leader of the Treblemakers, in "Pitch Perfect 3." As a matter of fact, it appears that the entire Treblemakers team would not make an appearance in the sequel.
"Yes. As of now, the Trebles and I won't be in the third Pitch Perfect movie," Skylar tweeted. "They seem to be taking the story in a different direction ????" Adam DeVine's appearance in the film has also not been confirmed.
However, Astin's wife, Anna Camp, will reprise her role as Aubrey Posen.
Trish Sie is attached to direct "Pitch Perfect 3," while Elizabeth Banks will return as a producer. The movie has been given a temporary release date of Dec. 22, 2017.
