The Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017) is rumored to be arriving soon to replace Galaxy J7 (2016). Here is a comparison between the two models to know the 7 new features that are reportedly arriving on J7 (2017).

Design and Display

The 2017 edition of Galaxy J7 is expected to sport full metal unibody design. It also features a distinctive metallic strip on the place where the rear camera is located. The 2016 model came with a plastic back panel and metallic frame along its edges.

The Galaxy J7 (2017) is rumored to feature a 5.5-inch full HD display that supports a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels whereas its predecessor supports HD resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels on its 5.5-inch screen.

Chipset, RAM and Storage

The Galaxy J7 (2016) has a Snapdragon 617 SoC inside it. It is supported by 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage.

The Galaxy J7 (2016) is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 625 that can be also seen under the hood of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and Asus ZenFone 3, Phone Arena reported. It is expected to come with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage.

Software

During the W-Fi certification of Galaxy J7 (2017), it was found that the smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat. The Galaxy J7 (2016) that runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow is also expected to receive Android N later in this year.

Battery

The Galaxy J7 (2016) features a 3,000 mAh battery. Its successor is expected to come packed with a 3,300 mAh battery with fast charging capabilities.

The Galaxy J7 (2017) has allegedly received FCC certification in the U.S. with model number SM-J727 which indicates that the device may also release in the country, Price Raja reported.

The exact release date of the Galaxy J7 (2017) is not known yet. Its predecessor was launched in March last year. Hence, the J7 (2017) edition is rumored to launch within the first quarter of this year.
