"Goblin" ushered in a new milestone among South Korea's cable channels with its popularity and double-digit TV ratings. Meanwhile, writer Kim Eun Sook is already looking at her next project following the successful end of the tvN drama.

Kim already has several hit dramas under her belt that turned her into one of Kdramaland's most sought after writers. With successful series' such as "Descendants of the Sun," "Secret Garden," "Heirs," "Lovers in Paris," "A Gentleman's Dignity" and "Goblin," the writer is keen to start a different kind of drama project after a quick hiatus.

Recently, a representative from Kim's agency told local reporters that the writer is planning to take a three-month break before beginning a new project. Following her slew of contemporary dramas that now includes a fantasy-based series, Kim is planning to dip her toes in a new genre namely a historical series, Munhwa quoted the representative as saying.

Named "sageuk" in Korean, writing a historical drama has been a project that Kim expressed interest in, according to the agency representative. It appears that the writer always wanted to try writing a drama in the said genre and even incorporated the said story theme in the recently concluded "Goblin."

Meanwhile, with Gong Yoo's participation in the tvN series fulfilling Kim's aspiration to finally work with the "Train to Busan" star, the writer has now set her sights on several top actors to potentially join one of her future dramas. In a recent interview, Kim revealed that she is planning to invite Kang Dong Won and Won Bin to star in some of her upcoming projects, All Kpop reported.

In other news, critics hailed "Goblin" for setting a new standard among South Korean cable channels, according to Korea Herald. With a hit soundtrack and a finale that reached a 20.5 percent viewership share in Seoul that bested tvN's previously highly rated "Reply 1988" series, Gong's fantasy drama proved that pay channel programs can also surpass the 20 percent mark.

"Goblin" ended its 16-episode run on Jan. 21, Saturday, on tvN. Watch a clip from the drama below:
