"Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 marked its midseason premiere with a plot that took several doctors from Grey Sloan hospital to a prison to treat a young pregnant inmate. Aired on Jan. 26, Thursday, Alex's legal case was only mentioned towards the latter part of the said episode where Miranda (Chandra Wilson) told Jo (Camilla Luddington) and Arizona about his decision to take the plea bargain that will land him in prison.

Jo became physically ill with the said news knowing that she was the main reason why Alex considered the plea bargain in the first place. As for Bailey, she had a serious yet sad look on her face while Arizona tried her best to hold back her tears.

Given that Alex was Arizona's protégé, the said doctor will have a hard time adjusting to the situation. Capshaw told Entertainment Weekly that her character will be "devastated" that he might be facing the horrors of prison life soon.

The actress also shared a similar comment in an earlier interview with Variety where she talked about the "Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 midseason premiere. When asked whether there could be a chance that Alex could somehow avoid being jailed, she stated that it may be too late for the said character to change his mind about the plea bargain.

Capshaw shared, "I think it's definitely a ship that has sailed and I think you're meant to believe that, and now you need to brace yourself for what will happen, now that he's done that."

"Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 airs every Thursday on ABC. Watch the teaser clip for the upcoming episode below:
