Former "Desperate Housewives" fame Eva Longoria is making a grand return to TV as she is set to star in a new role on Fox's hit drama series "Empire." Sources confirm that she will appear as a formidable villain on the show.
Deadline reported that Longoria will guest star on "Empire" Season 3 as Charlotte Frost, a character described as the director of the "all-powerful state gaming commission." Longoria's character will present herself as an antagonist to Terrence Howard's Lucious.
As the director of the gaming commission, Charlotte Frost has the power to make or break Lucious' ambition of expanding his company in Las Vegas. The female villain, although alluring on the outside, has a "force of darkness and corruption" hiding beneath her pretty surface, TVLine reported.
If Charlotte is taking on Lucious, viewers of the show can expect her to clash with another powerful female on the show-Cookie Lyon, played by Taraji P. Henson. All the drama that would ensue from a potential face-off between Charlotte and Cookie is already something exciting fans are looking forward to.
Meanwhile, "Empire" Season 3 is currently on hiatus and will return on March 22. Longoria's debut episode will air this spring.
The second half of "Empire" Season 3 will pick up at the height of Lucious and Cookie's biggest battle yet. After his explosive attack on Angelo, Lucious announces his new music project called Inferno. He makes sure everyone knows about, especially Cookie, who later makes it her mission to knock Lucious out of his throne for good.
Aside from Longoria, "Empire" Season 3 will also feature guest appearances from Taye Diggs, Rumer Willis, Nia Long and Phylicia Rashad.
Meanwhile, after the hit series "Desperate Housewives" wrapped up in 2012, Longoria has landed smaller appearances on TV. Her only leading role so far was in the short-lived comedy series "Telenovela." She played a recurring role in "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" Season 2 and made a guest appearance on "Devious Made," a show which she also executive produces. Later this year, Longoria wil star in the drama "Lowriders" with Theo Rossi and "Supergirl" star Melissa Benoist.
