Failbetter Games has launched the Kickstarter campaign of "Sunless Skies" for the development process. They have also revealed more details about the video game.
The game developers announced that they are now in the middle of the development process of the video game, according to its official Kickstarter page. Even so, the fans have already doubled their Kickstarter goal for it, which is approximately $125,000 in just a few days. They are extremely happy and thankful for the fans that have funded the game in such a short time.
The first two stretch goals that got funded right away were the new character origins and the Legendary Wrecks. Three new origins will be added for players to choose for their captain.
The three new origins for players to choose from are A Zee-captain, A Revolutionary, and An Auditor of the Ministry. These will determine the character's background, initial skills, and unlocks a new Facet to take during character development.
There will be three Legendary Wrecks for the players to discover in "Sunless Skies." Each of these stories will feature a wreckage of a locomotive that met a tragic end.
Players will discover treasures, danger, and mysteries that have been unsolved. These Legendary Wrecks are The Wreck of the Berrenger, The Wreck of the Parzifal, and The Wreck of the Boatman.
If the funding reaches almost $250,000, players will enjoy the Smuggling goal. This allows them to become a smuggler, which allows them to trade different kinds of contraband goods. This will let them engage more dangers, but they will gain a lot of cash if the mission is carried out properly.
Failbetter Games revealed in another post on the official Kickstarter page of "Sunless Skies" of its details. It takes place in an alternate history where the British have decided to leave Earth due to failing global politics. They find new worlds to colonize and new resources for them to exploit, and the Queen builds her throne on a clockwork sun where she has all the power there.
In this video game, settlers and resistance fighters will fight against this new dictatorship, and will look for ways to keep their independence. Players will seek out the stars in their spaceship while playing as the captain, and try to survive throughout the game.
