"Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 star Justin Chambers is finally opening up about his character, Alex Karev's fate.

In the previous episode, it was revealed that Alex took a plea deal after being sued for physically assaulting Andrew DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti). However, on the day of his trial, and when he was supposed to be given jail time, Alex disappeared and no one knows what happened to his case.

While speaking with Variety, Chambers explained Alex's decision to take the plea deal and said that he did it to protect Jo (Camilla Luddington). Even though they are not officially together at the moment, Alex and Jo still love each other deeply.

In fact, Chambers said that his character is a firm believer of second chances so if Jo asks for forgiveness from him, he will definitely give him another chance. Unfortunately, Jo is faced with problems of her own. She did not disclose her real identity when she applied for a job at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

On top of this, it is also possible that Jo's ex-husband, who also happens to be very abusive, will resurface in her life. In real life, Luddington is also expecting her first baby, and it is still unclear whether or not her pregnancy will be written into the show.

Meanwhile, Chambers also shared what his biggest wish is for his character. According to him, he wants Alex to find happiness because he has been through a lot of things.

In the earlier seasons of the hit ABC series, he was in a relationship with Izzie (Katherine Heigl). The latter eventually got sick, and they also separated. Alex just finds strength from people like her best friend Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), who was with him through all of his biggest struggles.

In other news, Chambers is also happy with the ratings of "Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 since it is still consistent despite the many years it has been on air. The actor even used "ER" as an example of a successful TV show whose ratings dropped on its 13th season.

"Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
