The newly re-designed 12-inch MacBook has got a more powerful version of USB port, leading the way to future PC design. The latest single port USB Type-C connector will be responsible in its external video, data transfer, and charging duties.

The thin laptop only has a single USB connector, the new tiny Type-C variety that will slowly pop up in the latest devices this year. It is a multi-purpose port that will connect to external devices like external monitors, hard drives, runs video to TVs and will also supply the laptop with power when it's charging time, CNET reported.

The advance USB port is very flexible but it is still only a single port. For users who needed to attach several devices at a time like printers, external hard drives, Ethernet cables, cameras, monitors, keyboards, TVs, game controllers, mice, and tablets, that is limited capability.

The purpose of the single port has to do with versatility. USB Type-C enables the transfer of power, data Relevant Products/Services and even video signals, all at the fastest rates possible. As it is deployed in the latest MacBook, USB Type-C lets Apple save space and money in this ultra-thin laptop through the merging of all the other ports that are normally seen on the side of a laptop into one just one port, according to Top Tech News.

The new USB Type-C is a high-powered, very flexible version of the familiar USB ports that have been a essential to laptops since the 1990s. USB Type-C is reversible, cables work no matter which way they are plugged in. It also delivers more power at a faster rate, which means users can use USB Type-C to connect big external devices like monitors and hard drives to the laptop.
