"Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" actor Lee Joon Gi received a surprised gift from his fans worldwide. His followers decided to congratulate him in a special way for his Hollywood debut with science film "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" starring Milla Jovovich.

The actor who played Prince Wang Soo in the SBS 2016 historical drama played as Commander Lee in the 2017 Jovovich starrer Hollywood movie. His entry to Hollywood created anticipation and excitement among his fans.

The followers of the The "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" actor posted a full-page advertisement in an entertainment magazine congratulating him for his role in "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter." The funding of the ad was provided by fans from 18 countries, including Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Italy, Romania, Philippines, the United States and Vietnam.

The advert was titled Commanding Evil in a Special Appearance "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter." It congratulated the 34-year-old South Korean actor with hopes that his first role in the American film will further boost his career.

"Congratulations on all your success thus far and we hope your first American movie role will take your career even further," the Feb. 3 issue of The Hollywood Reporter ad on page 64 reads. "We are proud to be your fans."

Such idea of congratulating the actor came from a Singaporean fan, AllKPop reported. Lee's fans also reserved a private screening room for 50 people to support the actor.

Lee revealed he was surprised by the offer to appear in "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" but politely rejected it at first. However, director Paul W.S. Anderson was very insistent.

"It's the last chapter of a very important series, so I worried a lot about whether I could be a help or not," Lee said during the press conference of Anderson's film in January. "I remember politely rejecting the offer at first."

Nevertheless, Anderson checked Lee's action scenes again then mailed them to the actor with an offer. The latter was honored as the director did that much for him. He decided to accept, hoping to be of help to the series even if the role was small.
