Several media reports have claimed repeatedly over the last few years that Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki are involved in a relationship following their on-screen chemistry. However, the actors deny their romantic involvement and refer to them as "close friends."
According to KBS program "News 9," Joong Ki for the first time addressed the dating rumors with co-actor Hye Kyo. The actor revealed that the fans have so much love for the drama that they want their onscreen relationship to be real.
"Hye-Kyo and I are both aware of those rumors, and we are really enjoying them. We even talk about them during company dinners," Joong Ki responded to the dating question. However, the "Battleship Island" star also confessed that if the drama is real, he would choose Hye Kyo for dating.
In the same interview, the actor also revealed that he does not like to keep social media accounts because he finds technology very complicated. However, fast forward a few months and the Hye Kyo and Joong Ki dating news are still going strong; in fact, it intensified due to actor's Instagram post.
A recent Instagram photo that the Korean heartthrob posted with two kids sparked rumors that the actor is ready is get hitched with his rumored girlfriend, Hye Kyo. The said photo was from a clothing line endorsement campaign that went viral within two days of posting, attracting 135K likes and over 700 comments. The fans were seen requesting the actor on the post to get married to Hye Kyo.
Meanwhile, the wedding rumors also took another level when Hye Kyo's endorsement, Laneige Taiwan, congratulated the actress on her wedding in a Facebook post that was later taken down. "Song Hye Kyo and oppa have recently confirmed the wedding date. So happy," said Laneige spokesperson in the post, Korea Portal reported.
Even though Joong Ki and Hye Kyo dating news remain unconfirmed, the wedding rumors sparked following the unedited Facebook post after the couple reportedly released their wedding invites.
